Typical day

We value parent support, participation and home learning, therefore, we encourage strong communication links with parents through daily contact, notice boards, newsletters and emails.

During the day the children operate as a whole class, in small groups and as individuals.  There are opportunities for energetic and active play, calm and reflective play as well as adult-led and child-initiated play.  Circle time signals the start of the day; children enjoy welcoming each other and sharing books and personal experiences. Group activities enhance communication and language, concentration and imagination.

Children have access to outdoor play as often as possible; weather permitting. Some children go home at the end of the morning and the remaining children stay for lunch; our meals are based on a four-week rotated menu.  We offer a session, which finishes at 3.15, preparing children for a ‘school day’. Activities for our under 2’s are planned to encourage the development of the prime areas of learning – Personal, Social and Emotional, Communication and Language and Physical Development.   Staff are available to support parents through the demands of  “toilet training” and “toddler tantrums”.

 All children have security in simple routine; caring, friendly staff are available to support and enable children as they play and achieve new skills.
