We aim to make the setting a welcoming place where children settle quickly and easily because consideration has been given to the individual needs and circumstances of children and their families.
Once we have confirmed your registration, a ‘key person’ will be allocated to your child and family and they will contact you to agree the best way to help your child settle in to the setting. At this point we also issue you with further paperwork to gather more detailed information about your child and their individual needs.
A settling in plan can include an informal ‘play session’ where your child can experience their new environment with your support. Giving us an opportunity to start to get to know your child and give you the opportunity to ask further questions and discuss your child’s individual needs.
We then offer a free trial session just prior to your child’s start date; encouraging parents/carers to stay with their child for a short time and leave once the child is comfortable. Parents/carers can make regular contact with the nursery during the course of any session.
We judge a child to be settled when they have formed a relationship with their key person, are familiar with where things are and are pleased to see other children and participate in activities.
