Our setting is fully inclusive in meeting the needs of all children, particularly those that arise from their religion, social and economic background, gender, ability or disability or English being an additional language. We promote equality of opportunity and value diversity for all children and families. We encourage mothers, fathers, relations and other carers (including childminders) to take part in the life of the nursery and to contribute fully.
Both settings are currently open 51 weeks a year and offer sessions between 7.30am and 6.00pm. We are closed across the Christmas week as well as Bank Holidays. We do offer limited availability for Term-Time only attendance (please ask for further details).
We offer flexible sessions throughout the year for all year groups; these include half-day sessions, ‘school day’ sessions and full days. For continuity, we recommend that children attend a minimum of twice a week.
Sunrise is built on the ethos that ‘every child matters . . . and is different’. Our aim is that all children develop as individuals. We make appropriate provision within our curriculum to ensure that each child, through their own interests and next steps of learning, receives the widest possible opportunity to develop their skills and abilities and reach their full potential. We look to encourage all aspects of development, supporting and guiding children emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually.
In Ofsted registered settings, The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards for promoting the learning, development and safety of children from birth to five years. The EYFS also lays down the legal requirements that early years childcare providers must meet.
Working in partnership with parents/carers is central to the EYFS and one of the main focuses for Sunrise; encouraging and welcoming all contributions. At Sunrise, we recognise that parents are the primary educators and that by sharing the extensive knowledge you have of your child, we will be able to plan and provide on-going rich experiences and opportunities within the setting and at home. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow.
We recognise that children learn at their own pace, react and develop indifferent ways and with this in mind the day is varied and flexible.
We offer a broad range of activities/areas through which young children can develop skills, concept and attitudes; these include:
- Sand/water play
- Books
- Creative play
- Construction
- Role play
- Physical play
- Mathematics
- Exploring and investigating
- Mark making
- Music
- Small world; and
- ICT and technology
Our care and education provision is governed by Ofsted and recognised through regular inspections. Our last inspections confirmed both settings as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas which includes quality of education, behaviours and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
